MTUC SHOCKED AT CONDUCT OF STATE OWNED COMPANY

Assar Senari Holdings Sdn Bhd has retrenched employees after coercing others to take VSS. 70% of employees lost their jobs, including office boys and clericals.
While MTUC fully respect a company’s discretion to restructure, such restructuring must be bona fide and cannot be a cloak to get rid of workers.
As the Chief Minister (Borneo Post 1/10) has stated that the company has lots of projects and it will be having the same ownership and partners, there is cannot be any redundancy in the company. As such VSS or retrenchment is totally unjustified and illegal.
What MTUC cannot accept is that the claim that 70% of the employees are bad workers without any proof.  It appears that the company is blaming workers including office boys while directors remained and some directors even promoted.
For a state owned company to say workers come and go and they can change workers anytime showed a complete disrespect for workers dignity and their fundamental rights.
MTUC will take appropriate actions to protect the rights of workers
